Confident of Winning in Bengkulu, Kaesang Mentions Elephant While Giving Directions to PSI Cadres
The Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), Kaesang Pangarep, is optimistic that his party will be able to achieve maximum results in Bengkulu Province in the 2029 General Election. This confidence was conveyed while attending the PSI Regional Coordination Meeting (Rakorwil) and inaugurating the PSI Provincial, District, and Branch executive boards throughout Bengkulu Province on Friday, 17 July 2026. In front of the cadres, Kaesang appreciated the work of the PSI Bengkulu executives, who are considered to have continuously built the party’s organisational strength in the region. He expressed his belief that Bengkulu could become one of PSI’s winning bases. ‘So I think in Bengkulu Province, God willing, PSI can become the winner. How can an elephant lose to others?’ said Kaesang. Despite his optimism, the youngest son of former President Joko Widodo reminded all cadres not to be complacent. He stressed that political consolidation must continue to be carried out from now on as preparation for the 2029 General Election. ‘We still need to do political work in these next 2-3 years,’ Kaesang said. He also instructed the entire executive board to immediately expand the party structure to the lowest level. ‘This time, PSI Bengkulu is different. God willing, for the upcoming factual verification, we shouldn’t have to think about it anymore, because our focus is on 2029,’ Kaesang stated. On that occasion, Kaesang also praised the composition of the PSI Bengkulu executive board, which is dominated by young people. He assessed that the presence of the younger generation is one of PSI’s strengths in presenting new ideas and building politics that is closer to the community.
