Confession of Perpetrator Who Killed and Stole Motorcycle from Online Taxi Driver in Tangerang, Confused About Finding Wedding Expenses

The suspect, identified by the initials RD alias D (25), confessed that his actions were triggered by family pressure to cover wedding expenses. According to the police, the suspect was initially depressed and had intended to end his own life because he was confused about how to find the money. While walking, he saw the victim sleeping. The victim was not targeted from the start. The act was purely spontaneous when the suspect was on foot and saw the victim asleep, with his motorcycle parked not far from the scene. Seeing an opportunity, the suspect abandoned his suicidal thoughts and instead decided to steal the victim’s motorcycle. The suspect then approached and tried to reach into the victim’s trouser pocket to find the ignition key. During the process of searching for the key, the victim woke up and fought back. The suspect then stabbed the victim once in the neck, resulting in the victim’s death. The suspect is currently detained at the Metro Jaya Police Headquarters for further legal proceedings. He has been charged under multiple articles of the new Criminal Code, specifically Article 458 and/or Article 479 Paragraph (3) of Law Number 1 of 2023. The joint team from the Metro Jaya Police previously arrested the suspect at a rented house in Penjaringan, North Jakarta, in the early hours of Tuesday.
