Confectionery Shop-House Fire in Tambora, 140 Fire Service Personnel Deployed
A fire broke out at a four-storey confectionery shop-house (ruko) in Tambora, West Jakarta. Dozens of fire trucks were deployed to the scene.
“The object on fire is a four-storey confectionery ruko,” said Ahmad Saiful Kahfi, Operations Chief of the West Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat), on Friday, 13 March 2026.
The fire was reported to fire service personnel at 02:34 WIB. The burning ruko was located on Jalan Tanah Sereal RT 11 RW 9, Tanah Sereal, Tambora, West Jakarta.
Officers arrived at the location and commenced firefighting operations at 02:42 WIB. The firefighting process was still ongoing.
“We’re just cooling it down now,” he said.
Fire service personnel brought the flames under control from 03:30 WIB onwards, followed by cooling operations commencing at 08:42 WIB. Officers continued to remove charred materials inside the confectionery ruko.
Material removal was being carried out to ensure the fire was completely extinguished and to prevent re-ignition. He stated that personnel were also hampered by building debris covering the burnt materials within the ruko.
“Yes, (the materials are flammable and) debris is also piled up,” he said.
The cause and sequence of events of the fire remain unknown. A total of 28 fire trucks and 140 personnel were deployed to the scene.
