Condolence book for Nixon open
JAKARTA (JP): In commemoration of former president Richard M. Nixon, the U.S. embassy is opening a book for members of the public to express their condolences today.
Those wishing to sign the book may do so in the lobby of the U.S. Information Service (USIS) at the embassy building on Jl. Medan Merdeka Selatan in Central Jakarta, the embassy said in a statement yesterday.
The book will be open until April 29.
Nixon died on Friday in New York City.
Today his body will be taken to the Richard M. Nixon Library and birthplace in Yorba Linda, California.
The late president will lie in repose in the lobby of the library beginning at 3 p.m. (Pacific Daylight Time) today until 11 a.m. (PDT) tomorrow.
A funeral service for the former president will be held at the library at 4 p.m tomorrow.
Eulogies will be delivered by President Clinton, Senator Robert Dole of Kansas and Governor Pete Wilson of California. Dr. Billy Graham will officiate. (lem)
