Jakarta - The health condition of MWP (6), a young boy who was a victim of bullying by two teenagers at Kramat Pulo Park, Central Jakarta, is now gradually recovering, although it is not yet fully stable.

The victim’s father, Bella (29), revealed that his son is still experiencing a number of physical symptoms following the abuse, such as high fever, low blood pressure, and itching in several parts of his body.

“It’s still 40 degrees, his body is still hot. He is still restless and itchy. As for the head examination, that will proceed later, because his head was swollen yesterday but now it has subsided a bit,” said Bella when met in Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Saturday.

Bella added that the victim’s blood pressure is also still being intensively monitored because it has not shown normal development.

“The child’s condition is not yet stable, his blood pressure was checked earlier and is still low with no improvement,” said Bella.

In order to receive further medical treatment, the victim was referred to the Bunda Mother and Child Hospital (RSIA) in Central Jakarta this Saturday.

“Today he will be referred there. Later the doctors will determine whether he needs to be hospitalised or not,” said Bella.

Regarding his psychological condition, Bella explained that the trauma experienced by the victim is now starting to improve. In the first few days after the incident, MWP experienced intense fear and often cried whenever he saw strangers.

“As for meeting people, he is no longer afraid. For a while, every two to three days the child was scared, traumatised, and crying. But the following night he was somewhat cheerful and willing to eat again,” he said.

Based on ANTARA’s observation at the location on Saturday afternoon, the victim had started to leave the house and play with friends around his neighbourhood, although he occasionally still complained of itching on his body due to the effects of the bullying.

The bullying case involving MWP previously went viral on social media. Based on circulating CCTV footage, the victim was abused by two teenagers until he lost consciousness and even suffered an electric shock at a park lamp post.

Currently, the case is being handled intensively by the Women and Children Service Unit (PPA) of the Central Jakarta Metro Police. The police are continuing to investigate the element of intent in this abuse incident. So far, investigators from the Central Jakarta Metro Police have examined a number of witnesses and collected evidence at the crime scene to complete the investigation file.
