Condet must be preserved

As Jakarta's anniversary approaches, I would like to propose
the Jakarta Administration and other related bodies preserve the
Condet area in South Jakarta.

I am particularly happy to learn that the Jakarta
Administration will buy the area to preserve it as one of
Jakarta's assets. This is definitely a good idea.

But the Condet community is worried about what is really on
the government's mind. And people are anxious to know the idea
behind the government's plan to buy the area. This sentiment is
understandable and fair.

The latest development has made people suspicious of the
government's plans as many newcomers have been building houses,
reducing the amount of vacant land. Uncontrolled development to
satisfy the rich may ultimately lead to complete obliteration of
the Condet area, which up to now has been an invaluable asset to
Jakarta.
