Jakarta — A ten-wheeled concrete mixer truck became caught on utility cables along Jalan Puri Kembangan Raya in West Jakarta on Tuesday afternoon, causing traffic congestion in the area.

RW 08 Kembangan Selatan security officer Naufal explained that the incident occurred at approximately 13:28 WIB. The Dynamix vehicle, travelling from Jalan Raya Puri Indah towards Jalan Raya Puri Kembangan while delivering concrete to the direction of Permata Buana, caught the cables when turning onto Jalan Raya Puri Kembangan.

According to Naufal, the cables became snagged not because of loose or tangled utility cables, but because the truck’s dimensions were too tall for the route it was using. “The cables are actually fine; the vehicle is simply too tall. This truck shouldn’t have been travelling on Jalan Raya Puri Kembangan at all; it should have taken an alternative route suitable for ten-wheeled vehicles,” he stated.

Naufal said the RW had coordinated with police and the state electricity company PLN for evacuation. “The traffic police at Kembangan and our environmental security team are handling this. We’ve also contacted PLN, who are on their way to assist,” he said. He urged motorists to exercise patience and caution in the area, as the location had been secured to prevent hazards from severed cables.

By 14:50 WIB, emergency responders were still working to evacuate the vehicle and manage the now-broken cables. The truck remained stopped on the left side of the road heading towards Taman Permata Buana. Cables had caught on the upper part of the cement mixer drum, becoming taut, with some smaller cables visibly snapped and dangling downward.

Due to the truck’s large body occupying part of the roadway, traffic flow became congested from Jalan Pesanggrahan onwards towards Jalan Puri Kembangan. Motorcyclists and car drivers were forced to slow down and carefully navigate through the narrow gaps between the truck’s body and the cable area.

Police officers managed traffic flow alternately from both directions to ease congestion and prevent danger. Wooden crates and a long pipe were placed on the road as emergency barricades to prevent vehicles from passing too close to the at-risk cables. PLN personnel also arrived at the scene to climb the vehicle and untangle the dangling cables, though they faced obstacles from the still-live, electricity-conducting cables.
