Concord Industry Accelerates Ceramic Development Amid Manufacturing Industry Challenges
PT Concord Industry continues to demonstrate its commitment to developing the national ceramics industry, amidst various challenges facing the manufacturing sector, particularly rising gas prices and the weakening of the Rupiah exchange rate.
Vice Director of Ceramics Tile at PT Concord Industry, Herman Hamzah, explained that the company has grown rapidly since its establishment in 2011 by Mr Lin Kuang Ming. Located in East Karawang, West Java, the company commenced production in 2015.
Starting with ceramic production, PT Concord Industry is now capable of producing 60x120 cm granite to meet evolving market demands. “Our journey began with ceramic production, and we have expanded to produce granite in various sizes. We also possess several leading brands to meet consumer needs across various market segments,” said Herman in a statement on Saturday, 6 June 2026.
For ceramic products, PT Concord Industry offers various brands such as Concord, Icarus, Delta, Hector, and Gracia. For the granite category, the company holds the brands Concord, Pavia, and Fortuna. The Fortuna brand itself is positioned as a special brand targeting specific market niches.
Despite the competitive landscape, the international ceramics industry is currently facing significant pressure. One primary factor is the increase in gas prices, which is a vital component in the production process. Gas prices, which previously hovered around US$6 per MMBTU, have risen to approximately US$21 per MMBTU and have the potential to rise further. “On the other hand, the weakening of the Rupiah, approaching Rp 18,000 per US Dollar, also imposes additional pressure on the industry,” noted Herman.
According to him, these conditions force industry players to implement price adjustments to ensure company operations remain functional and business continuity is maintained. However, PT Concord Industry remains optimistic in facing these challenges by introducing the latest products supported by modern technology and more innovative designs. “We hope that technological innovation and better design can provide added value for consumers so that our products remain competitive in the market,” he added.
