Concert-Goer Overcharged by Ride-Hailing Driver at GBK, Pays Over Ten Times Agreed Rate
JAKARTA – A concert attendee at Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) stadium in Central Jakarta experienced an unpleasant situation following a music concert on Sunday, 1 March 2026.
The attendee was charged by a ride-hailing driver far in excess of the initial agreed rate, an incident that subsequently went viral on social media and drew attention to security and oversight issues in the concert venue area.
Pessyaa, the concert attendee in question, recounted the sequence of events. “In this era, why are there still ride-hailing drivers who deceive their customers? After the concert, my feet were cramped and I could barely walk, so I decided to take a ride-hailing service to the car park with an agreed price of Rp 20,000 for two people,” Pessyaa wrote in a viral TikTok post.
Initially, Pessyaa had agreed to a rate of Rp 10,000 per motorbike, but upon arrival at the destination, the ride-hailing driver demanded Rp 200,000 through a digital payment system.
“He said ‘This is the price, I usually charge Rp 200,000 for passengers going to Spark from GBK’s main entrance as well, everyone pays the same,’” Pessyaa recounted.
Pessyaa’s friend assisted in negotiations whilst Pessyaa called GBK security personnel. “I agreed to settle it at the security post if he truly wouldn’t accept Rp 20,000, but he refused and insisted on Rp 50,000 to Rp 100,000,” Pessyaa explained.
In the end, a total of Rp 75,000 was paid to both drivers. Pessyaa said they accepted the outcome gracefully, though feeling disappointed.
Asep Triyadi, head of GBK’s Public Relations, Legal and Administration Division, stated that the venue would investigate the incident and contact the ride-hailing operator to prevent similar occurrences.
“We will investigate this matter, which will naturally serve as material for future evaluation,” said Asep.
He added that GBK management would also examine the role of security personnel on duty that day. “Even if nothing is substantiated, this remains valuable feedback so that security can provide better safety and comfort for GBK visitors,” Asep said.
