Sleman Regent Harda Kiswaya has affirmed that the Sleman Regency Government is currently not implementing Work From Home (WFH) or working from home every Friday. Speaking to reporters, Harda explained that the implementation of the WFH policy is feared to cause suboptimal public services to the community. The Sleman Regency Government, he said, will study which sectors can implement the government policy in accordance with Ministry of Home Affairs Circular No. 800.1.5/3349/SJ on ASN Work Culture Transformation in Local Government Environments and Ministry of PANRB Circular No. 3 of 2026 on the Implementation of Civil Service Duties for ASN in Government Agencies. “We will follow the circulars from the Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of PANRB regarding ASN Work Culture Transformation to intensify energy efficiency,” he stated. According to Harda, in carrying out their functions, almost all Regional Device Organisations (OPD) directly interact with public services. Therefore, he added, it is no problem if ASN continue to work in the office on Fridays. Nevertheless, he said, the Sleman Regency Government through the Personnel, Education and Training Agency (BKPP) Sleman and the Organisation Section of the Regional Secretariat Sleman is currently preparing technical provisions related to the implementation of WFH every Friday in Sleman Regency. “The Sleman Regency Government is committed to continuously conducting evaluations and policy adjustments carefully, while still prioritising public interests and the quality of fast, accurate, and responsive services,” he emphasised. One of the efforts undertaken by the Sleman Regency Government is to maximise the utilisation of information and communication technology. This is supported by Sleman’s Electronic-Based Government System (SPBE) index, which has reached 4.30 with a satisfactory predicate, indicating that Sleman is ready to implement local government digital services. Nevertheless, Harda assured that in accordance with the circulars from the Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of PANRB, certain public service sectors such as emergency services and readiness, traffic and order, community protection, cleanliness, waste management, civil administration, licensing, health, education, and others will continue to provide direct services. The Sleman Regent emphasised that the scheme of flexibility in carrying out civil service duties will be applied in Sleman according to public service needs while still considering real needs in the field, particularly in maintaining the speed, accuracy, and quality of services to the community. This step is taken to ensure that every policy implemented remains aligned with central government directives, while guaranteeing that services to the community in Sleman Regency continue to run optimally.
