Computerized flood monitoring equipment
In order to monitor the floods which frequently inundate low- lying areas in Jakarta and its suburban neighborhoods, the Ministry of Public Works will install monitoring equipment to check water level at the two city's major rivers, the Ciliwung and the Cisadane.
The computerized monitoring is said to be worth Rp 550 million.
President of PT Findomuda Desaincipta, Sudarto, said in a seminar recently that his company had won the contract from the ministry to set up the computerized data acquisition system at 18 points along the two rivers.
"It's a pilot project," Sudarto said, adding that it would take his company between two and three months to get the system up and operating.
The equipment will be installed at water sluices along the rivers, such as Grogol, Cideng, Depok, Manggarai and will be operated through main control at the ministry's office in Cawang, East Jakarta. (09)
