Compulsory vasectomy needed
Compulsory vasectomy needed
From Bisnis Indonesia
For quite a long time I've been overwhelmed by a great concern for the increasing number of Indonesians who are becoming poorer and less well-educated, while the birth rate rises.
I cannot imagine what it would be like if the country is some day hit by a population explosion because of the following:
The government is no longer financially capable of undertaking massive family planning campaigns as before.
As many people are educated to a lesser degree, they will have a limited understanding of the significance of birth control.
Many Indonesians practice polygamy without considering that they are responsible for their children's proper education.
Also, many of them are in the low-income bracket so they cannot provide enough nutritious food for their children.
It is easy to imagine that the next generation will have a low level of intelligence and also benefit from only a little education.
As an illustration, I've often heard that pedicab drivers have more than five children.
The government should take immediate action to address this problem. It could, for example, require that every man in Java and Bali who has already fathered two children should be compelled to have a vasectomy.
