Comprehensive Review of the Suzuki Satria Pro, from Design to Servicing Costs
After several days of testing this motorcycle for daily use, I feel the Satria Pro is not just a standard facelift. Its character remains very much Satria, but it is now wrapped in features that are far more modern.
The first impression of its design is indeed mixed. The front end isn’t to everyone’s taste. At first I wasn’t entirely keen because the photos looked odd, but when viewed in person it turned out to be far more proportionate.
Fortunately Suzuki has added a modern touch with a triple-cluster full-LED headlights, a new instrument panel, and the inclusion of ABS brakes on the front wheel. What is somewhat disappointing is that the front indicators still use ordinary bulbs, and the Y-spoke wheel design has hardly changed since the Satria F150 CBU era of 2004. The rear subframe is now plastic, which slightly reduces the premium feel.
There are gear indicators, real-time fuel consumption, average fuel consumption, battery voltage, and smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth. When connected to the Suzuki app, the instrument panel can display turn-by-turn navigation, phone notifications, and the smartphone’s battery indicator. For a sport underbone motorcycle, features like this clearly feel advanced.
A small detail I appreciate is that the Satria’s signature compact storage is still retained. It now even includes a USB Type-A charger inside it. Simple, but very useful for everyday use.
The assist & slipper clutch feature also feels significant. The clutch pull is much lighter than in the previous Satria generation. In Jakarta’s stop-start traffic, hands don’t tire as quickly.
The engine character is truly different from popular automatic motorcycles today. When the revs surpass 6,000 rpm, the power surges and becomes addictive. I briefly tested on a short track of about 1 km and this bike could easily reach 120 km/h. The sensation of shifting gears, manipulating the clutch, and hearing the engine roar at high revs is something rarely encountered nowadays.
