Comprehensive Discussion on P2SK Implementation: A Pivotal Moment for Indonesia's Financial System
Amidst a global economic landscape fraught with uncertainty, Indonesia needs to strengthen the foundations of its financial sector to maintain economic stability while supporting sustainable growth. The implementation of Law Number 4 of 2023 concerning the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector (P2SK) is a strategic step to reinforce financial system stability, deepen financial markets, expand financing access, and enhance Indonesia’s competitiveness in attracting global investment. Through P2SK, Indonesia has the opportunity to build a more modern, inclusive, and competitive financial ecosystem. Strengthened coordination between regulators, financial service institutions, and industry players is expected to create a more resilient financial system, bolster the capital market as a source of long-term financing, and drive growth in the real sector and national investment. Beyond strengthening the financial sector, P2SK also opens opportunities to improve Indonesia’s position in the global value chain through the development of the natural resources ecosystem, the strengthening of Danantara Sumber Daya Indonesia (DSI), and the development of a Mineral Exchange as a step towards Indonesia becoming a global commodity price reference. On the other hand, optimising the role of state-owned enterprise (BUMN) issuers and strategic companies is expected to increase capital market liquidity while supporting the competitiveness and performance of the national stock market. The financial sector reform through P2SK is also a momentum to propel Indonesia as an international financial hub. Supported by innovation, digitalisation, and regulatory certainty, Indonesia has the potential to attract larger global investment flows, strengthen its position as an investment destination, and enhance national economic competitiveness amidst the changing global economic landscape. To this end, in driving sustainable economic growth amidst global uncertainty, CNBC Indonesia is holding the Investment Forum 2026 with the theme ‘P2SK: Driving Indonesia’s Stability, Investment, and Competitiveness’, on Wednesday, 15 July 2026, at the Indonesia Stock Exchange, at 14.00 WIB. As part of the CNBC Indonesia Economic Update series, the Investment Forum 2026 brings together regulators, industry players, investors, and stakeholders to discuss the opportunities and challenges of P2SK implementation in strengthening Indonesia’s position in the global financial and economic sector. They include Indonesia Stock Exchange President Director Jeffrey Hendrik, Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Sari Yuliati, and Chair of Commission XI of the Indonesian House of Representatives Mukhamad Misbakhun. Also attending will be Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, Bank Indonesia Senior Deputy Governor Destry Damayanti, and Chair of the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Friderica Widyasari Dewi. Through this forum, it is hoped that a strategic discussion space will be created to discuss the role of the financial sector in driving economic growth, strengthening the capital market and national strategic industries, as well as identifying opportunities and challenges in enhancing Indonesia’s competitiveness amidst the continuously evolving global economic dynamics.
