Compliance Culture Becomes Foundation for Empowering 23.3 Million PNM Customers
The implementation of Good Corporate Governance (GCG) is considered an important foundation for maintaining public trust, especially for institutions serving millions of people. A consistently applied culture of compliance is also key to ensuring that economic empowerment processes are transparent, accountable, and sustainable. These principles are continuously strengthened by PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM), which currently serves around 23.3 million underprivileged women through the Membina Ekonomi Keluarga Sejahtera (Mekaar) programme. The company asserts that the implementation of GCG does not stop at regulatory fulfilment but has become a working culture applied at all levels of the organisation, from the board of directors and management to the account officers who serve as the front line in assisting customers in the field. This commitment led PNM to receive the Indonesia Most Trusted Companies award at the Corporate Governance Perception Index (CGPI) Award 2025 held by Swa Media. PNM Vice President Director Sunar Basuki stated that the award acknowledges the company’s efforts to build governance that is not only strong at the policy level but also practised as a daily working culture. He explained that good governance is about maintaining trust, and every PNM employee, from headquarters to the field, has a role in ensuring business processes are conducted correctly, transparently, and beneficially for customers. He added that a culture of compliance is part of the company’s effort to uphold its mandate in carrying out its community empowerment mission. Through strong governance, PNM strives to ensure that every financing and mentoring programme provides sustainable benefits for ultra-micro business actors. The company views strengthening the compliance culture as a crucial prerequisite for maintaining public trust while enhancing service quality for millions of customers spread across various regions in Indonesia.
