The Korps Lalu Lintas (Korlantas) Polri has officially implemented a one-way traffic engineering system on a section of the Trans-Java Toll Road beginning Tuesday 17 March 2026 at 15:00 WIB. This measure has been adopted to alleviate congestion during the 2026 Lebaran exodus, which has shown significant increases in eastbound traffic.

Head of the Traffic Police Corps (Kakorlantas) Polri, Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, explained that the policy is focused from kilometre 70 at Cikampek Utama Toll Gate (Cikatama) to kilometre 263 at the Pejagan-Pemalang Toll (West Brebes). The decision was made following traffic monitoring at several critical points on the Cipali Toll Road.

Prior to the full implementation of the one-way system at 15:00 WIB, police officers began clearing or sterilising the route from 13:00 WIB. This sterilisation aimed to ensure that lane B (direction towards Jakarta) was clear of vehicles to prevent traffic collisions when the engineering system commenced.

“According to schedule, at 15:00 WIB we will begin the one-way system from kilometre 70 to kilometre 263. Officers in the field are currently ensuring that the lane clearing process runs smoothly,” stated Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho in Jakarta on Tuesday 17 March.

As a result of implementing this one-way system, vehicles from Central Java heading towards Jakarta cannot enter through several toll gates in the Brebes region. Head of Public Relations for Central Java Police Regional Office, Police Commissioner Artanto, stated that West Brebes Toll Gate and Pejagan Toll Gate will be temporarily closed for access towards Jakarta.

“We advise the public wishing to travel towards Jakarta to use arterial routes or national roads. We are also positioning personnel at intersection points to ensure smooth traffic flow on arterial routes,” explained Police Commissioner Artanto.

The implementation of the partial Trans-Java Toll Road one-way system today represents an initial step before full nationwide one-way implementation, scheduled for the peak exodus period of 2026 beginning Wednesday 18 March 2026. According to the schedule, the nationwide one-way system will commence at 10:00 WIB from kilometre 72 to kilometre 414 at Kalikangkung Toll Gate, Semarang.

Polri has urged holiday travellers to ensure adequate e-toll electronic money balance, fuel availability, and good physical condition. Drivers are also asked not to stop on toll road shoulders as this can trigger congestion and accident risks.
