Complete List of 13 Banks Closed Until September 2026
The Financial Services Authority (OJK) has revoked the business licences (CIU) of 13 Rural Banks (BPR) throughout this year. Most recently, the OJK revoked the business licence of a BPR located in Cianjur on 1 September 2026.
Following the revocation of their licences, all bank operations have ceased and their offices have been closed. However, the process of settling customer rights and the respective obligations of each bank will be carried out by a liquidation team formed by the Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS).
Meanwhile, the directors, board of commissioners, and shareholders of each bank whose licences have been revoked are prohibited from taking any legal action regarding the bank’s assets and liabilities without written approval from the LPS.
The Chairman of the LPS Board of Commissioners, Anggito Abimanyu, ensured that customer funds from the 13 Rural Banks closed this year will still be paid in accordance with the LPS guarantee scheme.
Anggito stated that customer funds meeting the guarantee requirements will be returned within a maximum of five days after the LPS takes over and the liquidation team is established.
“Yes, customer funds within the guarantee scheme will be returned, and returned within 5 days. Therefore, all customer funds within the guarantee scheme, including both interest and the principal amount up to 2 billion [IDR], will be returned,” said Anggio.
He explained that customer funds within the guarantee scheme will be paid immediately after the takeover of the BPR and the appointment of the liquidation team are completed. The LPS also already possesses the necessary customer data for the payment process.
“For those within the guarantee scheme, it is 5 days; once we take over and appoint the liquidation team, we have all the data and will pay immediately,” he said.
However, Anggito noted that the reimbursement of customer funds that fall outside the guarantee scheme will take longer. This process depends on the level of asset recovery from the BPR following the liquidation.
“As for those above that [limit], it depends on the level of recovery, which will take longer,” he added.
