Complete List of 103 Free Private Schools in Jakarta

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, through the Education Office, has disbursed a budget exceeding Rp200 billion for the free private school programme in the 2026/2027 academic year. This year, the provincial government has added 63 private schools to the programme, bringing the total to 103 private schools that will be provided free of charge. “The budget allocated for the 103 private schools amounts to Rp253,625,139,600,” said the Head of the DKI Jakarta Education Office, Nahdiana, in Jakarta on Friday (17/4), quoted from Antara. Through these 103 private schools, this free education programme is projected to accommodate up to 23,694 students. The policy for the free private school programme is outlined in the Governor of DKI Jakarta Regulation Number 34 of 2025 on Education Cost Assistance for Private Education Units and the Governor of DKI Jakarta Decree Number 312 of 2026 on Recipients and Amount of Funding for Private Education Units in the 2026 Fiscal Year. The free private school programme covers primary school (SD), junior secondary school (SMP), senior secondary/vocational school (SMA/SMK), and special needs school (SLB) levels, spread across the five administrative city areas. Nahdiana emphasised that the DKI Provincial Government applies strict selection for private schools joining this programme. She detailed several absolute requirements, starting with having an establishment permit, possessing a National School Identification Number recorded in the National Education Data Management System, and having submitted data to the National Education Data Management System in accordance with the actual conditions in the private education unit quarterly in the current year. Furthermore, accredited by the National Education Accreditation Agency, being a recipient of school operational assistance from the central government for the last three years without interruption, and not included in cooperative education units or joint new student admission systems. Additional requirements include willingness to follow the Education Funding based on the established Governor’s Regulation and having a private education unit bank account in the name of the private education unit at a bank. In addition, said Nahdiana, private education units in the free private school programme must conduct the teaching and learning process without any interrupted classes, with provisions for primary school or equivalent, namely grades 1 to 6. Then, for junior secondary school or equivalent, namely grades 7 to 9, and senior secondary/vocational school or equivalent, namely grades 10 to 12. Nahdiana stated that the DKI Provincial Government also prioritises and selects private education units in sub-districts that do not have education units managed by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.
