Complete List: Ministries That Have Changed and Increased Under the Prabowo Era
The structure of the Red and White Cabinet in the era of President Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka has undergone several changes compared to the era of Joko Widodo.
These changes include the splitting of ministries, changes in nomenclature, and the formation of new ministries and coordinating ministries (Kemenko), resulting in a larger government structure and quantity than the previous cabinet.
Several Ministries Split
One of the most significant changes occurred within the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, which has now been separated into the Ministry of Law, the Ministry of Human Rights, and a ministry handling immigration and correctional services.
Education has also been split into the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology, and the Ministry of Culture.
Similar splits have occurred in the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, the Ministry of Villages and Transmigration, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, and the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy.
New Coordinating Ministries and Ministries Emerge
In addition to the splits, several new structures have been introduced. At the coordinating ministry level, the Prabowo era has added five Kemenko: the Coordinating Ministry for Law, Human Rights, Immigration and Correctional Services; the Coordinating Ministry for Food; the Coordinating Ministry for Community Empowerment; the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development; and the Coordinating Ministry for Downstreaming and Energy Transition.
Meanwhile, new ministries include the Ministry of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers and the Ministry of Population and Family Development.
As of 1 October 2026, the coordinating ministry structure will further expand with the Coordinating Ministry for Downstreaming and Energy Transition, led by Bahlil Lahadalia. Comparative data also shows that several other ministries have only undergone changes in nomenclature, such as the Ministry of Communication and Informatics becoming the Ministry of Communication and Digital.
