Here is a complete chronology of the 2026 MPR Four Pillars Quiz in West Kalimantan, from the jury’s error to it becoming a spotlight, as compiled by VIVA on Wednesday, 13 May 2026.
Held in Pontianak and Participated by West Kalimantan’s Top High Schools
The Four Pillars of the Nation Quiz Competition for the MPR RI at the West Kalimantan provincial level was held in Pontianak on Saturday, 9 May 2026. The competition was joined by several of West Kalimantan’s top high schools from various regions, eventually narrowing down to three schools in the final round: SMAN 1 Pontianak, SMAN 1 Sambas, and SMAN 1 Sanggau.
This competition is part of the MPR RI’s national ideology socialisation programme, covering Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution, the Unitary Republic of Indonesia (NKRI), and Bhinneka Tunggal Ika.
The Start of the Controversy: Answer Deemed Wrong Due to Articulation
The controversy began during the buzzer round in the final stage. One participant from SMAN 1 Pontianak answered a question regarding the mechanism for selecting members of the Financial Audit Board (BPK).
The participant mentioned the roles of the DPR and DPD in their answer. However, the judging panel stated that the response was not entirely accurate because the word “DPD” was not clearly audible due to the participant’s articulation.
This decision immediately sparked protests from participants and spectators, as the substance of the answer was considered correct.
A Similar Answer Was Deemed Correct
The polemic intensified when another team later gave an answer with nearly the same core content, which was declared correct by the judging panel. This moment went viral on social media after the video spread widely.
Many netizens viewed the decision as inconsistent. The term “articulation” even became a widespread topic of discussion, spawning various memes on the internet.
