Compensation for ministers

Compensation for ministers

From Bisnis Indonesia

I would like to ask several questions of the Ministry of
Manpower and Transmigration with regard to the many recent cases
of early dismissal of ministers from office:

* Is a minister a permanent employee, or one hired on a contract
basis?

* Will a minister who is discharged (honorably) from his/her
post get compensation such as a severance payment, service money
or salary up to the end of their tenure, pursuant to prevailing
Ministerial Decrees 150/2000, 78/2001 or 111/2001?

* Are the ex-ministers allowed to stage a demonstration in front
of the Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration to seek legal
protection over the unilateral termination of their employment?

* Are the contracts that prevent them from claiming their
severance payment and service money upon their dismissal, and
which are signed by ministers prior to their appointment, legal
and binding?

We only hope that the many recent cases of dismissal of
ministers will not burden the coffers of the state, and that
allowance is made for the expense in the state budget.
