Compensation for crash victims
JAKARTA (JP): The state-owned insurance company PT Astek has
paid a total of Rp 531 million (US$231,574) in compensation for
seven Bouraq Indonesia Airlines workers killed in plane crash in
Irian Jaya early last month.
The compensation was handed over to the victims' families by
Astek's director of services, Soekarna, in a ceremony attended by
Bouraq's President A. Sumendap at the Bouraq Headquarters
yesterday.
The seven crew members, of Bouraq's HS 748 plane, along with
three passengers, were killed when the plane crashed into the
Kaimana mountain in Irian Jaya, while on its chartered flight
from Tual in Maluku to Kaimana in Fakfak, Irian Jaya.
The deceased crew members are Herisal Franzi (pilot), Achmad
Mualif (co-pilot), Faturachman (copilot), Makim Majid (engineer),
Femilia Siregar (stewardess), Poppy Noviandini (stewardess) and
Harly Oktovernus (mechanic).
Herisal's family was given Rp 145.7 million in compensation,
Achmad's family, Rp 157.4 million, and Faturachman's family, Rp
157.2 million.
Hakim's family was given Rp 28.8 million in compensation,
Femilia's family, Rp 21.5 million, Poppy's family, Rp 12.6
million and Harly's family, Rp 8.1 million.
Besides the compensation from Astek, the victims' families
also received Rp 20 million each from the Jasa Raharja public
transportation insurance company. (rms)
