Compensation for Balinese blast victims
DENPASAR, Bali: The Ministry of Social Affairs plans to
provide compensation for victims' relatives in the bomb blast in
Bali, that killed at least 190 people and injured 325 others on
October 12, including dozens of local people.
Ida Bagus Pangjaya, head of Bali's social welfare office, said
in Denpasar on Sunday that the aid, totaling Rp 1 billion, was
aimed at relieving the suffering of the bereaved families, and
would be distributed by the regency administration of Badung.
Families of those who died in the explosion will receive Rp
2.5 million and residents whose houses or shops were damaged by
the blast Rp 5 million each, with priority given to ethnic
Balinese victims. No foreigners would receive compensation.
According to Pangjaya, his office also would bear the cost of
medical care worth Rp 3.5 million per person, in addition to the
Rp 1 billion allocation from the provincial administration for
the badly injured and dead victims' families. --Antara
