Company Valued at Rp10,851 Trillion, Elon Musk Aims to Purchase for Rp17,861 Trillion
Elon Musk is reportedly looking to expand his corporate empire by acquiring the semiconductor giant Intel. The potential acquisition, reportedly to be executed through SpaceX, carries a staggering valuation of US$1 trillion, or approximately Rp17,861 trillion.
This figure may seem disproportionate, given that Intel’s current market capitalisation stands at only US$607 billion (Rp10,851 trillion). Intel has been struggling to regain its dominance in the semiconductor market, having faced declining market share and industry setbacks in recent years.
According to 247wallst, strategic acquisitions are rarely based solely on a company’s current revenue, but rather on future projections. Intel offers significant strategic assets, including existing manufacturing facilities in the US—reducing the need for new factory construction—decades of industry expertise, tens of thousands of semiconductor engineers, and close ties with the US government.
Meanwhile, Musk is preparing SpaceX for an Initial Public Offering (IPO) on 12 June. The company is targeting a valuation of US$1.75 trillion (Rp31,280 trillion) in what is being described as the largest IPO in history. If successful, SpaceX would stand alongside industry titans such as Nvidia, Microsoft, and Apple.
Further reports suggest Musk is considering a merger between SpaceX and Tesla, potentially creating an entity valued at over US$3 trillion (Rp53,600 trillion). While no formal merger proposal has been made, the strategic logic is increasingly apparent. Tesla requires immense computing power for its autonomous driving systems, while SpaceX’s Starlink satellite network relies on AI optimisation and specialised hardware. Additionally, Musk’s xAI venture is currently building massive data centres powered by GPUs.
Another critical requirement is the development of autonomous electric vehicles for Mars exploration, one of Musk’s ultimate ambitions. All these business ventures share a common, critical need: reliable access to advanced semiconductors, making the acquisition of Intel one of the most viable long-term solutions.
