A man believed to be a company director, identified by the initials WH (47), was found dead at a hotel in the Kuningan area of South Jakarta on Wednesday evening (15/7). Upon discovery, police also found a firearm on the balcony of the hotel room occupied by the victim.

The Head of Public Relations for the South Jakarta Metro Police, AKP Joko Adi, stated that the victim was staying at the hotel and had been accompanied by a witness before he was found deceased.

“This gentleman was staying at the hotel and was accompanied by a witness before he was found dead,” Joko said to reporters in Jakarta on Friday (17/7).

Based on the preliminary investigation, the victim had been facing domestic issues with his wife. Joko mentioned that the victim felt guilty regarding his marital relationship. Despite this, communication between the two had reportedly improved, and they intended to reconcile.

“Initially, the husband felt guilty towards his wife. Then, on that day, communication was actually good with his wife, and they intended to make amends,” he said.

On the day of the incident, the victim decided to stay at the hotel and was driven there by his driver, who then waited in the parking area. Shortly after, the victim’s wife arrived at the hotel after receiving a message from her husband containing an apology. Suspicion over the message prompted the wife to go to the location.

“Yes, that’s right, he had apologised. Then via WhatsApp, the wife became suspicious and came to the hotel,” he stated.

Police who received the report subsequently arrived at the scene and evacuated the victim’s body. The case remains under police investigation to determine the exact cause of death.
