Commuters Accept TransJakarta Blok M-Soekarno-Hatta Fare Increase, Request More Fleet

The public considers the planned fare for the Transjabodetabek route from Blok M to Soekarno-Hatta (SH2) to be Rp 15,000 starting September 2026 as reasonable. They noted that the fare remains significantly cheaper compared to other modes of transport heading to the airport.

Rian (32), a local resident, believes the increase from Rp 3,500 to Rp 15,000 is acceptable because the previous rate was a promotional fare during the trial period. He noted that online taxi costs are much higher.

“It may look like a large increase compared to the previous Rp 3,500, but we must recognise that was a promotional rate during the trial phase. In my view, Rp 15,000 is still cheap compared to taking an online taxi or DAMRI, which can cost up to Rp 80,000,” Rian said when met at the Soekarno-Hatta Airport area on Saturday (1/8/2026).

Rian admitted to using the service occasionally to travel to the airport. He stated that the fare increase is not an issue as long as the quality of service is maintained.

“I am not too concerned. As long as the bus is comfortable, the air conditioning is cold, luggage space is available, and the schedule is reliable, Rp 15,000 is very reasonable. The important thing is that the fare does not increase while the service declines,” he added.

He expressed hope that TransJakarta would also increase the frequency of bus trips, particularly during peak hours.

“Perhaps more buses should be added. Sometimes during peak hours, the wait is quite long. If the headway is tighter, people will definitely continue to use it despite the fare increase,” he explained.

It is known that the Jakarta Provincial Government has set the TransJabodetabek (TransJ) bus fare for the Blok M-Soekarno-Hatta Airport route at Rp 15,000. This fare will take effect from 1 September 2026.

“The Governor has issued Governor’s Decision Number 685 of 2026 regarding the Service Tariff for Transbandara Public Transport on the Blok M-Soekarno-Hatta Airport route, at a rate of Rp 15,000,” said the Head of the Jakarta Transportation Agency, Budi Awaluddin, to reporters at Jakarta City Hall on Friday (13/7).

Budi stated that the fare is a formal establishment of a rate rather than a simple increase, following the conclusion of the trial period by the Jakarta Provincial Government.
