A worker named Boy (24), who operates in the Soekarno-Hatta (Soetta) Airport area, stated that he does not mind the new Rp 15,000 fare for the TransJabodetabek (TransJ) Blok M-Soekarno-Hatta (SH2) route, which will take effect this September. He believes the fare remains cheaper compared to other modes of transport heading to the airport.

Boy noted that the Rp 15,000 fare is still considered affordable. In his view, the TransJabodetabek service remains the most economical choice for his daily commute to work. “I agree. I think it is still very reasonable, not expensive. Usually, transport to the airport is quite costly, so having a bus with a Rp 15,000 fare is still more economical,” Boy said when met in the Blok M area, South Jakarta, on Saturday (1/8/2026).

Boy works daily around the Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tangerang. Before the introduction of the SH2 route, he used a TransJakarta route from GBK to Kalideres, before continuing his journey by bus to the airport. “Previously, when using the Kalideres-Soetta bus, I did it routinely. I would take the 3F from GBK to Kalideres, then continue to the airport. It was only Rp 7,000 one way. But over time, it became exhausting,” he explained.

He believes the presence of the SH2 route makes the journey more practical as there is no longer a need to change buses. “Since the SH2 route exists, it is much more convenient. I can take it directly from GBK to Soetta,” he added.

Boy stated he will continue to use the service despite the Rp 15,000 fare, as he believes no other transport mode offers such a low rate for the airport destination. “There is no other transport as cheap as this. Taking the Damri bus can cost Rp 50,000, and riding a motorcycle is exhausting. When you think about it, Rp 15,000 is still cheap,” he said.

While supporting the fare, Boy hopes that TransJabodetabek will increase its fleet to reduce passenger waiting times. “If demand increases, I hope the number of buses can be increased so we don’t have to wait too long. Usually, the buses are full from Soetta to Blok M, whereas from Blok M to Soetta, it is sometimes not too crowded,” he noted.

It is reported that the Jakarta Provincial Government has set the TransJabodetabek bus fare for the Blok M-Soekarno-Hatta route at Rp 15,000. This fare will be effective from 1 September 2026.

“The Governor has issued Governor’s Decision Number 685 of 2026 regarding the Service Tariff for Transbandara Public Transport on the Blok M-Soekarno-Hatta Route, at a fare of Rp 15,000,” said Jakarta Transportation Agency Head, Budi Awaluddin, to reporters at Jakarta City Hall on Friday (13/7).

Budi clarified that the fare is a fixed establishment rather than an increase, following a trial period conducted by the Jakarta Provincial Government.
