Commuter Train Derails at Jakarta Kota Station, Passengers Evacuated
A commuter train (KRL) derailed at Jakarta Kota Station this morning, triggering travel disruptions. Passengers were evacuated from the train.
KAI Commuter Public Relations Manager, Leza Arlan, stated that train No. 1203 derailed while attempting to enter track 9 at Jakarta Kota Station. Leza confirmed that all passengers are safe.
“All users inside the Commuter Line have been evacuated and everyone is in a safe condition,” Leza said in a statement on Friday (4/9/2026).
KRL services entering Jakarta Kota Station are experiencing delays. Relevant officials and rescue locomotives have been dispatched to the location to manage the situation.
“As of 08:44 WIB, Commuter Line users at Jakarta Kota Station travelling towards Bogor are temporarily only being served via tracks 10 or 11 at Jakarta Kota Station,” Leza added.
KAI Commuter has also implemented service re-routing for trains from Bogor. Trips are currently only operating as far as Jayakarta Station and Manggarai Station before returning to Bogor.
KAI Commuter advises all passengers to follow instructions from station staff and to monitor operational updates regularly via the official @commuterline social media accounts or the C-Access application.
As of 09:08 WIB, observations indicated that train speeds were lower than usual. Additionally, the duration of KRL stops at each station was observed to be longer than normal. These measures are suspected to have been implemented to prevent overcrowding and to manage traffic while the handling process at Jakarta Kota Station remains ongoing.
Despite the disruption, no severe passenger congestion was observed at Citayam, Depok, or Depok Baru stations. The flow of passengers entering and exiting trains, as well as those waiting on station platforms, appeared relatively normal.
