Commuter Line Passengers in Jabodetabek Drop 9 Percent During WFH
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Commuter recorded a decline in Commuter Line passenger volume in Jabodetabek on Friday (8/5/2026). This coincides with the implementation of work-from-home (WFH) policies for some government agencies and companies in the Jabodetabek area. Based on data up to 1:00 PM WIB, the total number of Commuter Line passengers across all service lines in Jabodetabek was 499,101 people. “This figure indicates a 9 percent decrease compared to other working days,” said Karina in her official statement on Friday. Karina explained that the atmosphere at several major departure stations and integrated stations also appeared less crowded than usual, particularly during the morning rush hour. Although there was a drop in passenger numbers, Commuter Line operations continued normally to ensure public connectivity for those still required to work outside the home. The situation inside the train carriages during the morning rush hour was still monitored as quite busy, although the density of users at departure stations tended to decrease compared to regular working days. Meanwhile, the number of users at Bekasi Station was recorded at more than 22,000 people, or a 9 percent drop. At Sudimara Station, there were more than 11,000 users, or a 14 percent drop; Tangerang Station had more than 10,000 users, or a 19 percent drop; and Bekasi Timur Station had more than 5,000 users, or a 6 percent drop. At Sudirman Station, there were 32,000 users, or a 5 percent drop. Then, Gondangdia Station had 15,000 users, or a 21 percent drop; Juanda Station had more than 14,000 users, or an 8 percent drop; and Tebet Station had more than 18,000 users, or a 7 percent drop.
