KAI Commuter has confirmed that all Commuter Line services across all areas on Sunday (6/9) are operating normally despite the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau (GAK).

VP Corporate Secretary of KAI Commuter, Karina Amanda, stated that KAI Commuter continues to operate Commuter Line services normally in all areas.

“The Merak Commuter Line service, which operates closest to the location of Mount Anak Krakatau, continues to operate normally with a total of 14 trips, 7 departure schedules from Merak Station and 7 journeys towards Merak Station,” said Karina, confirmed in Jakarta on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Basoetta Commuter Line service is also operating normally, serving 64 trips on this Sunday. This is despite Soekarno-Hatta Airport not yet serving customers for either domestic or international flights as of Sunday afternoon.

Karina added that KAI Commuter continues to operate the Basoetta Commuter Line service normally despite the cancellation of flights at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport until Sunday afternoon.

In the Jabodetabek area, the impact of volcanic ash carried by the wind has begun to be observed at several Commuter Line stations. For this reason, KAI Commuter urges all users and the wider public to wear masks while in station areas or when travelling on the Commuter Line.

Users are also advised to remain vigilant and prioritise safety, follow the instructions of officers, and maintain their health during activities.

KAI Commuter will continue to monitor developments regarding the operational implementation of Commuter Line travel services while continuing to prioritise the safety and security of users and Commuter Line journeys.

“KAI Commuter also urges everyone to regularly monitor information related to Commuter Line operations through the official social media @commuterline or the C-Access application,” said Karina.
