The Rangkasbitung–Tanah Abang Commuter Line, or Green Line, experienced a signalling disruption at Tigaraksa Station this morning. The problem caused passengers to pile up at stations and inside trains.

One passenger, Adel, said the signalling problem made her late for university. She was travelling from Sudimara Station to Tanah Abang Station.

“I got to the station at half past six, but it was already full. Then, by 6.44, the train still hadn’t arrived. We waited and were told there was a problem at Tigaraksa. I had an 8am class, so I messaged my lecturer first because I knew I would be late,” Adel said at Tanah Abang Station.

Adel said she had to let three trains pass because they were already so crowded. She was able to board the fourth train to arrive at Sudimara after the signalling disruption began to ease.

“When one train arrived, not a single person could get on. Three trains went by and I still couldn’t board. They were full from Sudimara. I finally got on the fourth one; I forced my way in,” she said.

Adel said she cried because of the crush inside the train. Her water bottle, or tumbler, fell beneath the train.

“I forced my way in, and my tumbler—it was a big one—fell under the train, down by the platform. In the end, I was left holding just the lid. I really couldn’t breathe, and I even cried on the train,” she said.

Another passenger, Ana, said she was also affected by the Green Line disruption that morning. She said the train was extremely crowded, even though she was travelling only from Palmerah Station to Tanah Abang Station.

“Yes, there was some kind of delay this morning, and it was very crowded. It’s usually not that busy when I travel towards Tanah Abang, but this time it was packed when I tried to board. Apparently there was a problem around Parung or Serpong, though I wasn’t quite sure what the announcement said,” Ana said.

Ana called for information about delays to be shared sooner, saying this would allow passengers to prepare to use other forms of public transport.

“I hope the information can be provided sooner, so we can make arrangements to use other public transport,” she said.

Earlier, at 6.32am, KAI Commuter announced on its official X account that services were delayed because of a signalling equipment failure at Tigaraksa Station.
