Community-Based Conservation Book Launch Enlivens Invirotech Expo 2026
PROSPECT Institute participated in the INVIROTECH EXPO 2026 to introduce the book Community-Based Conservation: Biodiversity Preservation in Indonesia through a book review session held at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC) on Friday (12/6). The activity on the second day served as a space for sharing lessons on community-based conservation practices gathered from various programme experiences in the field. During the session, visitors were invited to explore diverse perspectives on conservation, sustainable development, and the importance of documenting programme experiences as a source of knowledge that can be utilised more widely. The book contains various field learnings showing how community involvement is a crucial factor in maintaining the sustainability of conservation efforts. “This book is the result of skilled hands involving various experiences, field learnings, and perspectives developed during programme implementation. We hope it will spark multisector collaboration efforts to keep conservation ideas enduring in the future,” said Prospect Institute Operation Director and author Wahyu Purwanto. The discussion, guided by Bakhtiar Fahmi Fuadi (Senior Environmental Consultant at Prospect Institute) and reviewed by Rahadiyand Aditya, a lecturer in Islamic Community Development at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, highlighted how research results, implementation experiences, and field learnings can be processed into strategic references for developing future sustainability programmes. “Conservation is never-ending and is a lifelong activity,” added Wahyu. In addition to the book review, Prospect Institute also presented a session titled From Field to Insight: Integrating Impactful Programme Development and Facilitation. Through this session, participants gained insights into the importance of managing learning during programme implementation so that field experiences can be translated into more relevant and impactful strategies for communities. Through this series of activities, Prospect Institute affirmed the importance of making knowledge documentation, field learning, and cross-sector collaboration the foundation for promoting adaptive and sustainable practices.
