Communities Harness Technology and High-Quality Seeds to Double Corn Yields

Hope returns to the faces of farmers in the Cikarang Pusat area as they attend the corn planting event for the first quarter of 2026. The event is not merely a planting ceremony; it is a tangible manifestation of the state’s presence through the Police to touch directly the basic needs of those who till the land. The support is felt directly by 215 farmers from 44 farmer groups under the auspices of Polda Metro Jaya. As a form of modernisation, the Police distributed Agricultural Equipment and Machinery (Alsintan) consisting of 4 hand tractors, 4 water pumps, and 5 hand sprayers, along with a symbolic handover of high-quality seeds and fertilisers. The combination of machinery technology and the availability of production inputs is expected to significantly boost yields. With adequate tools, farmers can prepare larger plots of land in a shorter period than with traditional methods, thereby sharply increasing work efficiency. Deputy Chief of Police (Wakapolri) Komjen Dedi Prasetyo emphasised that this physical support is part of a larger ecosystem being built together. He stressed the importance of involvement from many parties to ensure that the tools deliver real economic benefits to farming households. “We provide financing support through an internal cooperative for the needs of seeds, fertilisers, and agricultural machinery (Alsintan). Our hope is that farmers can increase productivity and their welfare,” Dedi said in a written statement on Saturday, 7 March 2026. Through this initiative, the Police emphasise its role as a facilitator that strengthens the food production ecosystem. The welfare of farmers remains a top priority because they are the backbone of realising Indonesia’s sustainable and self-reliant food sovereignty.
