Communists, RP to hold next talks

MANILA (AP): Communist rebels want the next phase of their
peace talks with the Philippine government to be held in China,
the rebels said yesterday.

The negotiations, aimed at ending one of the world's longest-
running Communist insurgencies, have been proceeding sporadically
since 1992 in the Netherlands, where rebel leaders live.

The two sides are scheduled to hold a new round of talks in
The Hague from Jan. 5 to 9 to finalize a comprehensive agreement
on human rights.

The talks are likely focus on political prisoners and victims
of human rights violations, the rebels said.
