Communications Ministry Organises Asset Management, Provides Land Access for 170,000 Homes
Jakarta — The Ministry of Communications and Digital Affairs (Kemkomdigi) has conducted asset reorganisation at the ministry, resulting in the identification of 45 hectares of state land that can be utilised to construct approximately 170,000 residential units.
The land asset located in Depok, West Java is being prepared for transfer to the Ministry of Housing and Human Settlements (PKP) to enable prompt utilisation in accordance with the President’s priority programme.
“There is idle state-owned land that can be utilised to create decent housing for the community through the President’s programmes. The location is also favourable and strategic,” said Minister of Communications and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid.
The Minister of Housing and Human Settlements Maruarar Sirait expressed appreciation to the Communications and Digital Ministry for donating the land for the public housing development programme.
“I am very pleased that Ibu Meutya has taken the initiative to hand over ministry land that is suitable for public housing in Depok,” he stated.
Minister Sirait disclosed that the central government is currently working with local government to discuss the mechanism for asset transfer and development scheme so that the programme can be realised promptly.
In terms of providing homes for the public, the Government under President Prabowo Subianto’s leadership is preparing a programme to build 3 million homes per year.
This is a strategic programme targeting low-income households (MBR) as beneficiaries. In detail, the government plans to construct 1 million residential units in urban areas in the form of low-rise flats and 2 million residential units in rural or coastal areas annually.
