Communications Minister Checks Telecoms Preparations at Mandalika Circuit
Jakarta (ANTARA) – Communications and Digital Affairs Minister Meutya Hafid on Thursday checked the provision of telecommunications services to support the 2026 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia MotoGP at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit in West Nusa Tenggara.
The 2026 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia MotoGP, scheduled to take place from 9 to 11 October, is expected to attract around 200,000 spectators.
“We want to ensure that all these systems are ready to support the smooth running of the race,” Meutya said while inspecting preparations for telecoms services at Mandalika Circuit.
Among other things, the minister checked the reinforcement of the mobile network through four mobile base transceiver stations (BTS), as well as monitoring of radio-frequency spectrum use, which supports communications during the race at Mandalika Circuit.
The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs has secured more than 250 radio frequencies to support various activities during the MotoGP, from communications for racing teams and race security to broadcasting.
“International events such as MotoGP need reliable communications support. From rider safety and organiser coordination to broadcasting in various countries, everything depends on good frequency management,” she said.
She added that spectrum monitoring was being conducted to ensure that the communications systems could operate simultaneously without interfering with one another.
Herlin Kurnia Wulandari, a radio-frequency controller at the Mataram Radio Frequency Spectrum Monitoring Office, told the minister that the office had prepared to monitor frequency use and anticipate potential communications disruptions during the race.
“Various communications systems have to work simultaneously without interfering with one another. At the same time, the mobile network must also be able to meet visitors’ needs,” she said.
Meutya coordinated with MotoGP Technical Senior Manager Noemí Lacasa Ruiz, ITDC Acting President Director Ahmad Fajar, and the Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA) team to ensure communications systems were ready ahead of the 2026 MotoGP.
She also met the two Indonesian riders set to compete at the 2026 Mandalika MotoGP: Veda Ega Pratama in Moto3 and Mario Suryo Aji in Moto2.
“It is a pleasure to meet Veda and Mario in person. They will carry Indonesia’s name before a global audience. I hope they both perform at their best, stay safe and achieve the best possible results,” she said.
Meutya said the ministry would continue monitoring the services to ensure there were no telecommunications problems during the MotoGP.
“We want to ensure that the race is safe, all communications systems work properly, and the public can enjoy the Mandalika MotoGP comfortably,” she said.
