Commotion as Foreign National Drives Against Traffic in Sanur, Causing Near-Miss

A video showing a car allegedly driven by a foreign national travelling against traffic at the Simpang McD intersection in Sanur, Denpasar, on Saturday (30 May 2026) has gone viral on social media. Instagram accounts @sesetanpost and @balicaption posted footage of the vehicle on the wrong side of the road. As a result, the car nearly collided with a motorcyclist passing through the area. The incident reportedly occurred at the McD Sanur junction, one of Denpasar’s busiest traffic points. Fortunately, the incident did not result in an accident or casualties. However, the motorcyclist became angry and attacked the driver, who was later separated by bystanders. The video quickly attracted various comments from netizens, many expressing concern over the driver’s alleged disregard for traffic rules and potential danger to other road users. As of this report, the police have not released official statements regarding the driver’s identity or the full details of the incident. ‘We are still investigating,’ said Head of Public Relations Section (Kasi Humas) of Denpasar Police Department, Iptu I Gede Adi Saputra Jaya, when contacted. Adi urged the public to always follow traffic signs and regulations to ensure road safety for all.
