Common Problems With the Used Toyota Veloz and Estimated Repair Costs
The Toyota Veloz has become one of the Low MPVs in high demand in the used-car market. In addition to its modern design and comprehensive features, this model is also known for its durability.
However, like other used cars, the Toyota Veloz still has a number of issues that commonly arise with mileage.
Muchlis, owner of the specialised workshop Toyota Mitsubishi Garasi Auto Service, said there are several components that potential buyers or owners of used Veloz should watch out for.
‘For the front suspension that starts making noises, the cost ranges from Rp 400,000 to Rp 1 million if you only replace bushings or stabilisers, whereas if the shock absorbers must be replaced, the cost can reach Rp 2.5 million to Rp 3.5 million,’ he told Kompas.com on Friday 22 May 2026.
He said repair costs are still relatively light if only bushings or stabilisers are replaced. However, they can rise significantly if the shock absorbers need replacement.
Another common problem is the CVT transmission, which feels unresponsive or somewhat rough when delivering power. This condition is usually related to degraded CVT oil.
‘In a CVT with delay or rough shifting, repair costs range from Rp 800,000 to Rp 1.5 million for draining the CVT oil. But if the damage is severe enough to require a total overhaul, the costs can exceed Rp 20 million,’ he said.
Additionally, in the braking area, the Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) system can exhibit squealing noises. This is usually caused by dirt or brake pads that are thinning.
‘In the rear braking system with EPB that squeaks, the handling cost ranges from Rp 150,000 to Rp 300,000 for cleaning. But if the brake pads have to be replaced, the cost is around Rp 400,000 to Rp 700,000,’ Muchlis said.
These problems are generally still considered mild and can be addressed through cleaning or replacing the brake pads.
In addition to mechanical sectors, problems can also appear in the infotainment or head unit system. Some users report the unit can hang, glitch, or lag.
In many cases, these problems do not require replacing the device, but are resolved with a software update.
Although used Toyota Veloz remains reliable in its class, prospective buyers should pay attention to some potential issues that commonly occur, ranging from the suspension, CVT transmission, EPB braking system, to the head unit.
