Common-Law Husband Disappears as Wife Found Dead, Skeletal Remains in Limo, Depok
DEPOK – The common-law husband of DH (56), a woman discovered dead, skeletal remains in her home in the Limo area of Depok City, has disappeared since the body was found.
Cinere Sector Police Chief Kompol Chairul Saleh disclosed that the victim and her common-law husband lived together in the house where the incident occurred.
“The victim lived daily with her common-law husband, but the whereabouts of the common-law husband are currently unknown,” said Chairul when confirmed on Monday (9 March 2026).
Previously, the two had come to DH’s house in February 2026 to clean her mother’s home. At that time, they received information that DH had gone to Sukabumi, West Java.
On the first visit, L and R saw the house gate padlocked from outside. “R forcibly opened the padlock, and after it was successfully opened, witnesses L and R entered towards the house door and found it unlocked,” explained Chairul.
At that time, the two observed that the interior of the house was in disarray. There were piles of clothing on the floor of L’s bedroom. Eventually, L and R decided to clean the yard area first before continuing to the interior areas at a later time.
“At that time, the witnesses did not have any suspicions because they did not smell any strange odours coming from the room,” said Chairul.
The next morning, L and R decided to divide the cleaning tasks across the kitchen, living room, and bedrooms. R was assigned to clean L’s room. At that moment, R was about to place the pile of clothing from the floor into plastic bags. “When R lifted the carpet on top of the pile of clothing, he saw a pair of human feet with bones already visible and dried skin condition,” explained Chairul.
Scattered coffee powder was found on the victim’s remains. According to the crime scene investigation results, several items belonging to the victim were missing: one Suzuki Adres motorcycle unit, ignition keys and registration documents, and a mobile phone.
Police are currently examining several witnesses and conducting an autopsy at Kramat Jati Hospital.
