Committee and Aide to Brigadier General Yuniar Make Peace and Apologise Over Jogja Marathon Commotion

The commotion that drew public attention during the Jogja Marathon has been resolved. The incident involving the aide to Korem 072/Pamungkas Commander Brigadier General TNI Yuniar Dwi Hantono and race marshals has ended peacefully after both parties sat down together for mediation.

The case previously came under scrutiny after a video of the argument at the race venue went viral on social media. In the footage, the Danrem’s aide was reportedly stopped by officials for not wearing a participant number or BIB whilst on the running track near the finish line.

The widespread online discussion prompted the event organiser and Korem 072/Pamungkas to promptly issue a clarification. As a result, both parties agreed that the incident was triggered by a misunderstanding on the ground.

Head of Army Information Service Brigadier General TNI Donny Pramono stated that the mediation process took place shortly after the marathon concluded. ‘The committee openly apologised for the field supervisors’ lack of awareness. Meanwhile, the Danrem also understood the officials’ firmness in enforcing the event’s safety regulations,’ he told reporters on Monday, 22 June 2026.

According to Donny, the communication established after the incident prevented the matter from dragging on. ‘Both parties agreed that this incident was purely a communication misunderstanding on the ground and has been resolved with a sense of kinship,’ he said.

The Army explained that the root of the problem began when the aide’s race number allegedly came loose whilst running on a crowded track. This situation then raised suspicion from officials tasked with checking participants and individuals on the race route.

‘However, during the race, the participant number allegedly came off on a fairly crowded track, causing a misunderstanding during the inspection by officials,’ he said.

The recording sparked various public reactions and became a widespread topic of discussion online. The spotlight emerged after a narrative circulated claiming that Brigadier General Yuniar’s aide was on the race track without wearing a participant number or BIB.
