Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia — PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk, through various environmental and social responsibility (ESR) programmes, has reaffirmed its commitment as a strategic partner to the government in strengthening the quality of national education. This commitment has been realised through the “Mandiri Cares for Schools: Books Mandiri for the Nation” programme, which forms part of the company’s Social Pillar ESR initiative to support equitable access to education.

Through this initiative, Bank Mandiri has distributed over 33,000 school bag packages to primary school pupils and equivalent grades across various regions of Indonesia. This assistance has been channelled in stages across different regions and operational areas as a demonstration of the company’s commitment to supporting educational access for the young generation.

Marking the launch of the “Mandiri Cares for Schools: Books Mandiri for the Nation” programme, Regional Chief Executive Officer of Bank Mandiri Region XI/Bali and East Nusa Tenggara Alexander J. Patty stated that the distribution of school bag packages represents Bank Mandiri’s ongoing commitment to supporting improvements in education quality. This initiative aligns with the fourth point of President Prabowo’s Asta Cita, which emphasises strengthening the competitiveness of Indonesia’s human resources.

“We believe that strengthening human resources is the foundation for national progress. Through the Mandiri Cares for Schools programme, Bank Mandiri is committed to expanding inclusive and sustainable educational access as a genuine contribution to supporting the development of Indonesia’s next generation,” said Alexander in an official statement on Wednesday (11 March 2026).

In the Bali and East Nusa Tenggara region, Bank Mandiri distributed 2,000 school bag packages equipped with exercise books and writing materials to pupils at 50 schools. This support is expected to help meet basic learning needs whilst creating a more conducive educational environment for pupils.

Meanwhile, Bank Mandiri’s Corporate Secretary Adhika Vista explained that the “Mandiri Cares for Schools: Books Mandiri for the Nation” programme was designed to provide relevant benefits with direct impact for pupils. This step also forms part of the company’s commitment to achieving sustainable excellence through strengthening educational foundations from an early stage.

“Support for basic learning needs is an important part of creating more equal opportunities for children in various regions,” said Adhika.

Bank Mandiri’s commitment to strengthening the quality of national education is also reflected through various initiatives within the Mandiri Cares for Schools programme. Previously, the bank carried out improvements to facilities and infrastructure at 27 schools across various regions of Indonesia. The renovations included classroom painting, updates to learning facilities, and construction of reading corners to create a more comfortable and conducive learning environment for pupils.

At the end of 2025, in response to flooding disasters in Aceh and Sumatra, Bank Mandiri also distributed 400 school equipment packages to affected students to support the continuation of their learning activities following the disaster.

Additionally, during this year’s Ramadan period, through a spirit of sharing goodwill, Bank Mandiri distributed over 24,000 school bag packages along with books and writing materials to pupils in various regions across all Bank Mandiri regional offices as a form of support for young people’s educational access.

Bank Mandiri is committed to strengthening its role as a government development partner through integrated synergies between social programmes, business strategy, and the company’s sustainability agenda. Each ESR initiative will be carried out in a directed, measurable manner, and aligned with national development priorities.

“As a development agent, Bank Mandiri is committed to continuously integrating social values into every company initiative,” concluded Adhika.
