Commitment to Clean Energy: Solar Power Plant Inaugurated in Tangerang
Every city has a responsibility to continue growing without neglecting environmental sustainability. Driven by this spirit, Mal Ciputra Tangerang, a division of the Ciputra Group, has officially begun operating a Solar Power Plant (PLTS) through a collaboration with PT Ineco Solar Solutions (Inecosolar), a Yinson Renewables company. This move is part of the company’s commitment to providing cleaner energy while supporting the creation of more sustainable cities.
As a developer guided by the philosophy of ‘Creating Cities, Weaving Life,’ Ciputra Group believes that development is measured not only by the presence of infrastructure but also by a city’s ability to provide a better quality of life for the community and preserve the environment for future generations.
The solar panels installed on the rooftop of Mal Ciputra Tangerang consist of 1,260 solar cells, projected to generate approximately 1,200,000 kWh of clean energy annually. This is expected to reduce carbon emissions by more than 850 tonnes (CO2e) in its first year of operation and can meet about 23% of the mall’s electricity needs during daylight hours.
Through the collaboration with Inecosolar, the system is designed to increase energy efficiency and reduce dependence on conventional energy sources, providing a long-term positive environmental impact. The environmental benefits are equivalent to the carbon absorption of approximately 40,600 mature trees per year, or reducing the emissions produced by driving petrol vehicles for over 4,400 kilometres—essentially removing about 200 cars from the road annually.

While this marks the initial step in the energy transformation within the Ciputra Group’s environment, the operation of this solar plant is a significant milestone in realising the company’s vision of providing eco-friendly and sustainable areas. As the largest solar installation operated within the Ciputra Group to date, this initiative reflects the belief that significant change always begins with a tangible first step.
