Jakarta, VIVA – PT Kansai Prakarsa Coatings, or Kansai Paint, has reaffirmed its strong commitment to a healthier environment by introducing lead-free paint solutions across its entire product portfolio, for both retail segments and B2B (business-to-business) industrial needs.

President Director of PT Kansai Prakarsa Coatings, Takahiko Tsuda, explained that the company’s lead-free paints include those for iron and wood, exterior and interior wall paints, as well as industrial applications such as auto refinish, special industrial coatings, protective coatings, and various other uses.

“This initiative is a strategic step for the company to ensure that every product is not only of high quality but also safer for the public,” said Takahiko in his statement on Thursday, 16 April 2026.

He also assured that all lead-free paint solutions introduced by Kansai Paint meet national standards (SNI) and adhere to international best practices.

This is reinforced by SNI certification for Solvent-Based Decorative Paints, which has adopted the national lead content limit of 90 ppm (parts per million), in line with World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations.

“This step is part of the company’s long-term commitment. Because Kansai Paint believes that paint not only serves to beautify but also contributes to safety, comfort, and quality of life for the public,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Agency for Standards and Industrial Services Policy (BSKJI) of the Ministry of Industry, Emmy Suryandari, emphasised that the government is committed to promoting an industry that is not only competitive but also responsible through the implementation of appropriate standards and policies.

She stressed that the application of standards and restrictions on hazardous materials has become an important foundation in protecting consumers and the public.

“We appreciate the steps taken by industry players, including Kansai Paint, who continue to innovate in providing safer products as a real contribution to creating better buildings and environments for the public,” said Emmy.

She added that the downstream chemical industry, including the paints and coatings sector, is one of the strategic sectors that continues to show positive growth in Indonesia. In 2025, the national paint industry recorded an installed capacity of 1.5 million MT (metric tons) per year and absorbed 36,000 workers, with domestic market demand potential exceeding 1 million MT.
