Commissioner General Rudi Setiawan, Former West Java Police Chief, Inaugurated as Inspector General of the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections

Minister of Immigration and Corrections Agus Andrianto installed Rudi Setiawan as Inspector General of the ministry at a ceremony in Jakarta on Wednesday (15 July).

“May you always receive guidance and direction from Almighty God in carrying out this duty,” Minister Agus said to Rudi during the inauguration ceremony, as quoted by detik.com.

Agus, a former Deputy Chief of the Indonesian National Police, emphasised to Rudi that a position is a trust that must be carried out with full responsibility, integrity and dedication.

In a statement on its official website, the ministry said Rudi’s appointment forms part of efforts to strengthen the internal oversight function. Rudi is tasked with enhancing the ministry’s integrity and promoting transparent and accountable governance.

Following his installation, Rudi signed and read out an integrity pledge.

Rudi’s background is as a senior National Police officer holding the rank of Commissioner General, or three-star general.

He is known for having served as Deputy for Enforcement and Execution at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), before being recalled by the National Police to serve as Chief of the West Java Regional Police.

After serving as West Java Police Chief from April 2025 to May 2026, Rudi was transferred to National Police Headquarters.

His rotation from West Java Police Chief to a senior officer post in the National Police Criminal Investigation Department was set out in Telegram Letter Number ST/960/V/KEP./2026 dated 7 May 2026. The letter stated that the West Java Police command would next be handed to Inspector General Pipit Rismanto, previously the Chief of the West Kalimantan Regional Police.

Meanwhile, quoting the Tribratanews National Police website, Rudi subsequently received a promotion. His rank promotion ceremony was held in late June.

“Inspector General Rudi Setiawan now officially holds the rank of Commissioner General of Police, or three-star general. The promotion was confirmed in a high-ranking National Police officer promotion ceremony held on Tuesday, 30 June 2026,” as quoted from the police’s official news portal.
