Commission XIII Holds Meeting to Discuss Follow-Up on SDUWHV Australia 2025 Controversy
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Commission XIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) held a meeting with the Directorate General of Immigration, the National Ombudsman RI, and representatives from the community to discuss follow-up actions on the controversy surrounding the Support Letter for Work and Holiday Visa (SDUWHV) Australia for 2025.
The meeting, attended by Eko Budianto, Director of Visa and Travel Documents at the Directorate General of Immigration, Jemsly Hutabarat from the Ombudsman RI, and representatives from the SDUWHV Australia victims’ movement, took place at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday.
“Today, we are following up on the results of the previous meeting,” said Sugiat Santoso, Deputy Chair of Commission XIII of the DPR RI, who led the meeting.
The issue of the SDUWHV issuance system had previously been discussed by Commission XIII of the DPR RI during a hearing and general hearing on 25 November 2025.
The conclusions from that meeting supported the Ombudsman RI in resolving and submitting the results of its investigation and supporting evidence regarding the implementation of the SDUWHV 2025 by the Directorate General of Immigration.
Additionally, the commission urged the Directorate General of Immigration to enhance transparency and improve the SDUWHV issuance system for Australia 2025 and other countries, as well as to provide more objective and fair selection alternatives.
Furthermore, Commission XIII of the DPR RI pressed the Directorate General of Immigration to conduct a re-verification and cancel the SDUWHV Australia 2025 for participants suspected of accessing it from abroad.
In this meeting, the commission, which oversees immigration and human rights matters, requested the Ombudsman RI to present its audit report.
“This report is highly anticipated by the public, given the large number of applicants for the SDUWHV Australia,” said Sugiat.
The Directorate General of Immigration was asked to explain follow-up actions from the previous meeting, while representatives from the victims’ movement were requested to convey their aspirations and responses.
