Commission XI Selects Friderica Widyasari Dewi as Chairman of OJK
Commission XI of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia has formally appointed Friderica Widyasari Dewi as Chairman of the OJK, on Wednesday 11 March. Friderica replaces Mahendra Siregar, who previously resigned. Friderica was appointed alongside four other individuals to fill positions on the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) for the 2026–2031 period through a fit and proper test mechanism.
The Chairman of Commission XI Mukhamad Misbakhun explained that the decision was reached by consensus through an internal Commission XI meeting. According to him, Friderica was assessed as capable of demonstrating positive performance whilst serving as acting chairman of the OJK during a challenging period for the financial services sector, particularly the capital market.
“The reason we made this decision by consensus. One of the main considerations is that in a short period she was able to provide a positive response to several fundamental issues,” Misbakhun stated in remarks quoted on Thursday 12 March.
In addition to the position of OJK Chairman, Commission XI of the House of Representatives also approved four other candidate Board of Commissioners members to fill several strategic positions at the OJK. The results of Commission XI’s decision will subsequently be brought to the full House of Representatives plenary session for approval and formal establishment on Thursday 13 March.
