Commission VIII of Parliament Maintains Tight Oversight of Religious Education Teacher Allowance Disbursement Process

The Deputy Chair of Commission VIII of the Indonesian Parliament, Abidin Fikri, has assured that his commission will continue to monitor the process of disbursing professional allowances (TPG) for religious education teachers under the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag).

According to Abidin, the allowance process extends not only to Islamic religious education teachers, but also to teachers of other faiths, including Christianity, Catholicism, Hinduism, and Buddhism.

“Commission VIII of the Indonesian Parliament will continue to conduct thorough oversight of the implementation of TPG payments for religious education and madrasah teachers by the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs,” he stated in a statement on Tuesday, 17 March.

He noted that currently 209,324 teachers are receiving TPG, including 91,028 Islamic religious education (PAI) teachers and supervisors who completed Professional Teacher Education (PPG) in 2025.

Additionally, there are 5,606 non-civil servant Christian religious education teachers, and 9,893 PPG 2025 graduates receiving TPG. For Catholic religious education, there are 12,400 TPG recipients comprising 8,568 civil servant teachers and 3,832 non-civil servant teachers, including 5,972 PPG 2025 graduates.

The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) politician praised the Ministry’s swift action in disbursing allowances to madrasah teachers prior to Eid al-Fitr 1447 AH in phases.

“Timely payment before Eid demonstrates the Ministry’s responsiveness to Parliament’s aspirations and those of madrasah teachers who have historically depended on meagre salaries,” he said.

He assessed that the disbursement not only alleviates the financial burden on teachers ahead of the religious holiday but also strengthens public confidence in the management of state funds in the religious education sector.

Based on data from 2 and 4 March 2026, of the total 405,438 madrasah teachers who possess Teacher Registration Numbers, 246,449 Eligibility Analysis Determination Letters for Allowance Recipients (SKAKPT) have been issued. This figure includes 32,081 teachers who completed Professional Teacher Education or PPG in 2025.

Meanwhile, approximately 158,989 of the remaining teachers are still undergoing administrative finalisation for the issuance of SKAKPT in the next phase.

Of the total 405,438 allowance-receiving teachers, 209,324 are Islamic religious education (PAI) teachers, of which 91,028 are PAI teachers and supervisors who completed PPG 2025.
