JAKARTA - The Indonesian Police Reform Acceleration Commission (KPRP) proposes that multiple positions held by police officers be regulated on a limited basis.

KPRP member Mahfud MD stated that this regulation needs to be firmly established in legislation.

“Essentially, it must be limited,” said the former Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs during a press conference in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, on Thursday (7/5/2026).

To date, the Civil Service Law (ASN Law) indeed allows for multiple positions as long as regulated in the TNI Law and Polri Law.

“Well, the TNI Law is already regulated, but the Polri Law is not,” he emphasised.

“That will then be processed by Mr Yusril and the Minister of Law and Human Rights,” he concluded.

“Basically, there is no other work. What else? It’s already 3,000 pages like that,” said Mahfud during a press conference in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (6/5/2026).

Nevertheless, Mahfud mentioned that the President still wishes to invite the committee back to continue discussions.

“But the president still said, ‘oh, is it already finished?’, he said. ‘We’ll meet again, we’ll arrange it again, there are many interesting discussions’, like that,” Mahfud stated.

However, the potential follow-up will still be discussed in the next meeting with the president.

“Who knows what else later, if we meet the President, what else needs to be followed up from this, whether we or some of us need to work on it further and how to control it, that might be in the next discussion,” said Mahfud.

He added that although the commission has completed its work, the follow-up process is not entirely handed over to the police.
