Irma Suryani Chaniago, a member of Commission IX of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), believes that the change in leadership at the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) is a natural step to strengthen the effectiveness of government programme implementation, particularly the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme. According to Irma, this leadership change is believed to be able to improve supervisory functions and enhance the quality of the implementation of Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) across various regions.

“This change is a reasonable step to ensure better control and quality improvement of the SPPG, so that the objectives of the MBG programme can be achieved,” Irma stated in her remarks on Wednesday (3/6).

The NasDem Party politician reaffirmed the importance of maintaining focus on the execution of the MBG programme. Irma expressed hope that the new leadership at the BGN could bring improvements to the programme’s implementation, ensuring that public nutritional targets are met in accordance with the President’s directives.

Meanwhile, the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) noted that the removal of BGN Head Dadan Hindayana is allegedly linked to suspected illegal practices involving the sale of kitchen locations for the Free Nutritious Meal programme. The handling of alleged legal violations related to the National Nutrition Agency remains entirely within the authority of law enforcement agencies.

The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) reportedly took former BGN Head Dadan Hindayana, along with two former Deputy Heads, Lodewyk Pusung and Sonny Sonjaya, into custody in the early hours of Wednesday (3/6). The Attorney General’s Office also confirmed that it conducted a search of the National Nutrition Agency’s office in Jakarta on Wednesday.
