Commission III Urges TNI and Police to Collaborate in Investigating Acid Attack on KontraS Activist
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Chair of Commission III of the House of Representatives, Habiburokhman, has urged the National Police (Polri) to continue collaborating with the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) in investigating the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus.
It is known that Polri and TNI have released the identities of the perpetrators of the acid attack. TNI’s Military Police Command identified four suspects: Captain NDP, Lieutenant SL, Lieutenant BHW, and Sergeant ES.
“Commission III of the House of Representatives urges Polri and TNI to maintain synergy in handling the acid attack case against Andrie Yunus, guided by the provisions of Article 170 of Law Number 20 of 2025 on the New Criminal Code in managing this case,” Habiburokhman stated during a press conference at the House of Representatives Building, Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday (18/3/2026).
Habiburokhman appreciated Polri’s efforts from the outset in handling the acid attack case.
He also praised the relevant parties for uncovering the identities of the perpetrators from TNI.
“Commission III of the House of Representatives appreciates the performance of Polri and all relevant parties who have uncovered the incident and the identities of the perpetrators in the acid attack case against Andrie Yunus,” he added.
Meanwhile, Commission III of the House of Representatives has also requested the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) to protect Andrie Yunus and his family.
Andrie Yunus was doused with acid by unidentified individuals in Central Jakarta on Thursday night (12/3/2026).
Coordinator of KontraS Working Body, Dimas Bagus Arya, stated that the attack caused Andrie to suffer injuries to several parts of his body.
“Particularly on the right and left hand areas, face, chest, and eye area,” Dimas explained to Kompas.com on Friday (13/3/2026).
Dimas explained that the acid attack occurred shortly after Andrie finished recording a podcast titled “Militarism and Judicial Review in Indonesia” held at the office of the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI) in Jakarta.
“The incident occurred shortly after Andrie Yunus completed the podcast recording at the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI) office titled ‘Militarism and Judicial Review in Indonesia’, which finished around 23:00 WIB,” Dimas clarified.
After the event, Andrie left the location and rode his motorbike.
